SAGE Publications Licenses Titles to ProQuest’s ABI/INFORM® Business Periodicals Database To Reach Business Schools and Research Centers
New agreement brings key business titles to premier aggregated database Divided line

ANN ARBOR, Mich., April 7, 2003 - ProQuest Company's (NYSE: PQE) Information and Learning unit has announced an exclusive agreement with SAGE Publications to bring 21 key business and management titles to ABI/INFORM, the company's flagship database. The agreement will allow ProQuest to deliver the journal content to institutions, libraries, and other markets around the world.

"SAGE titles are highly regarded by researchers, and we're delighted that SAGE has decided to allow searchers to access them in ABI/INFORM," said Rod Gauvin, senior vice president of sales and marketing for ProQuest Information and Learning. "The full text of 21 titles -- some never before available in an aggregated database -- will appear in ABI/INFORM to support research on business topics."

Michael Melody, president and chief executive officer of SAGE Publications, said, "The decision to extend electronic distribution rights to ProQuest was based on several important factors. First, ABI/INFORM is the de facto source for quality business periodicals information. The database provides the ideal context for SAGE content, with its quality indexing and editorial selection. Second, ProQuest consistently provides outstanding distribution of content, including professional market segments that might not subscribe to each of our wide array of titles. ABI/INFORM is the business database of choice for nearly 90% of U.S. business school libraries and major business research centers around the world. This agreement will ensure that our titles are available to business researchers, an important audience to the editors of our journals, our learned society partners, and to our company."

The SAGE titles to appear in ABI/INFORM will support research in accounting/finance, change management, human resource development, marketing, and organization studies. Titles include:

  • Advances in Developing Human Resources
  • American Behavioral Scientist
  • Business and Society
  • Compensation & Benefits Review
