ANN ARBOR, Mich., December 10, 2003 - ProQuest Information and Learning has signed a new agreement with The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) to distribute the full text of the respected medical journal electronically to libraries, hospitals and educational institutions. ProQuest Information and Learning, a unit of ProQuest Company, creates and publishes databases for libraries and educational institutions worldwide.

NEJM is considered the world's gold standard for keeping up to date on the best practices in medicine. A career companion for physicians, it also helps define and reinforce clinical care for physicians in training. Thousands of academics throughout the world use the Journal as a teaching tool. Three out of four readers practice internal medicine or an internal medicine subspecialty, delivering office-based or hospital-based care in 12 core fields: allergy/immunology, cardiology, emergency medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, infectious diseases, nephrology, neurology, oncology, pulmonary disease, and rheumatology.

The new agreement allows ProQuest to offer NEJM in several ProQuest® online databases including: ProQuest Research Library, ProQuest 5000, ProQuest Medical Library, Medline with Full Text, CINAHL Database with Full Text, ProQuest Health and Medical Complete, PsycINFO Database with Full Text, XanEdu CoursePacks and eLibrary^TM, among others.

Backfile rights dating back to 1996 are included in the agreement.  Content in XanEdu CoursePacks will be current with the print edition of NEJM. Other databases will be embargoed 90 days.
