Frequently Asked Questions
Question
What are "slots" on My Bookshelf?
Answer

Safari Bookshelf subscriptions are based on a total number of slots used, not the total number of books on My Bookshelf. The price of your Safari Bookshelf subscription depends on the number of slots you choose to have on your personal bookshelf, My Bookshelf.  Most Safari books fill up 1 slot on My Bookshelf; some fill  1/2 slot, 2 slots or 3 slots. Suppose you have purchased a subscription for a 10 slot subscription for one year. You may choose a combination of books ranging from 1/2 slot to 3 slots each for a total of 10 slots at any given time. Safari allows you to swap books on My Bookshelf in a process explained in section 8.0. The only rule is that a book must remain on My Bookshelf for thirty days before you can swap it for a new book. Also, you can upgrade your subscription to more slots as the need arises. Slot values are a factor of the retail price of the print book.

Click on My Bookshelf to view the slot values of the books on My Bookshelf. Or, to determine the slot value of a book that is not on My Bookshelf, simply click on the book cover. You will always be told the slot value of a book before you confirm the addition of a book to My Bookshelf.
